How does one know show value for another human being?

If this varies across cultures, how has Islam taught us to value the people in our lives, and to express it to them so they are aware of it?

As Muslims, we’re encouraged to accept that everything is for the best: does that mean that the outcome of every action we take is for our betterment?

Is it worse to lose children in infancy or when they are older? Does spending more time with a child in this world make the loss even greater if it happens?

Does having knowledge of something (someone) and then losing it worse than not having known it at all?
