As another Ramadan draws to a close, here’s an old school shout out to bring in a new Eid. Little known fact: manamana is taken from the Arabic ma’na al-ma’na (”the meaning of meaning”), and is a veiled reference to Sufi devotional practices.

Salamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Baraktuhu

Eid Mubarak. May Allah accept our prayers and fasting and strengthen us in His Deen for the rest of the year, too. Hope everyone enjoys Eid and has a blessed one with his family.

By the way check out the Eid-ul-Fitr Bayan in Bangla and Urdu I recorded on my blog.

Wa Salam

Doesn’t the little muppet in green look like the wool garments the early Sufis wore? Maybe not but it is a thought.

Clearly, the position of the horns and the starry eyes is meant to suggest the New Moon and Star symbol of Islam.

I found this to be a very mystical piece.
